Delhi MCD Bypolls: Who Won in All 12 Seats? A Fresh Look at the Full Winners’ List

Delhi MCD Bypolls: Who Won in All 12 Seats? A Fresh Look at the Full Winners’ List

These MCD bypolls in Delhi may not have the big length of all high-voltage assembly elections. Yet, they do usually show the real pulse of local voters. This year's by-elections to 12 municipal wards would thus turn into a mini-mandate reflecting shifting moods, silent frustrations, and new hopes in Delhi neighbourhoods. And the results did not disappoint.

Still, the bypolls sent some strong political signals, like only about 38% of the voters came out to exercise their franchise. The BJP  again flexed its organisational muscle, clinching 7 out of 12 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held on to its local bastions with 3 wins, while the Congress and the All India Forward Bloc-a Left ally-emerged victorious in one seat each.

Though these figures are small, their impact on Delhi's civic politics is anything but.

BJP: The Dominant Force Returns

For the BJP, the by-polls were the potential to reaffirm its grip on Delhi's municipal landscape — and it did just that.. The victory in 7 wards gave the party both numerical strength & psychological advantage.

Among the notable wins included:

Dwarka B

Vinod Nagar

Ashok Vihar

Greater Kailash

Dichaon Kalan

Shalimar Bagh-B

Chandni Chowk

These wins spanned across many pockets-from upscale city colonies to old city clusters-and underlined the party's broad voter acceptance in civic matters.

AAP: Holding Ground Where It Matters

Of course, for AAP, the contest wasn’t about sweeping the Frame., but proving that its grassroots links keeps very much intact despite political challenges.

The party safe wins in:

Mundka

Naraina

Dakshin Puri

All three wards are known to be strongholds of AAP's local leaders, who have built their reputations through door-to-door engagement and solving civic problems. These triumphs showed that the party's influence was intact in many working-class and middle-class pockets.

The Surprise Performers: Congress & AIFB

The Congress, which has long struggled to regain relevance in Delhi's civic sphere, finally opened its factors with a decisive win in Sangam Vihar. This victory — though just one — has symbolic value for the party, increasing its morale and signaling that pockets of loyalty still exist.

The biggest surprise, but, came from Chandni Mahal, where the All India Forward Bloc safe a rare but impressive victory. This injected a refreshing twist into Delhi's political narrative, again showing that in local elections, surprises are always in the offing.

Final Seat Tally — At a Glance

Party Seats Won

BJP 7

AAP 3

Congress\t1

AIFB 1

What Do These Results Mean for Delhi?

The BJP continues to dominate the municipal politics, showing consistent organisation strength and voter connect.

AAP keeps a strong competitor, especially in those areas where issues of local governance directly impinge on voter attitudes. The single victories of Congress and AIFB, in reality, prove that smaller players still hold pockets of influence in the diverse political fabric of Delhi. Beyond just numbers, the by polls show Delhi's voters keep vigilant, selective, and always ready to shift their support based on hyper-local performance. As future Political disputes arise, these results may just be the first hint of the capital's changing political mood.
